The cargo ship “Full City” ran aground at Såstein in 2009. The captain proclaimed incorrect: “No oil leaking”. In reality 300 000 liter of raw oil came out and polluted parts of the coast. The black sea area in the painting consists exclusively of the raw oil that flowed out from the “Full City”. The raw oil from the stranded ship was scooped up by hand by the painter himself from the area outside Nevlungstranda.

Lasteskipet “Full City” grunnstøtte på Såstein i 2009. Kapteinen proklamerte helt feilaktig: “No oil leaking”. I virkeligheten var det 300 000 liter råolje som lakk ut og tilgriset deler av kysten. Det sorte havområdet i maleriet består utelukkende av råoljen som rant ut fra “Full City”. Råoljen fra skipsforliset ble egenhendig øst opp i området utenfor Nevungstranda.
